Amitava Bakshi

Mr. Baksi is the Chief Procurement Officer of Tata Steel India. He has an experience of more than 32 years in Tata Steel operations. In his last assignment, he was responsible for the management of JAMIPOL, a Tata Steel promoted Joint Venture, as Managing Director.

He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, he has also completed his Management Education Program (MEP) from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and General Management Programme from CEDEP, Fontainebleau, France.   

He has presented more than 10 technical papers on iron and steel refining process in various National and International Seminars.

He has been conferred with various prestigious awards like the ‘EMINENT ENGINEER’ award in 2010, the ‘Distinguished Engineer’ award in 2015 by Institution of Engineers (India) for his contribution in the field of mechanical engineering and the ‘Outstanding Leader in Procurement’ award by Institution of Supply Chain Management (ISCM).

He is a member of the Board of three companies – Nicco Jubilee Park Ltd., Steel City Press and Kalimati Global Shared Services Limited.  He is also associated with various professional and socio-cultural organizations:

• Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries(CII) - Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Member, CII Jharkhand Council.
• Vice President, Association of Supply Chain Professionals (India).
• Executive Committee Member, Jamshedpur Management Association.
• Ex-President, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West.
