In his current role, Mr. Gencay is leading approximately 600 purchasing, supplier quality, and supply chain personnel developing and executing supply base Technology, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Responsiveness (TQCDR) enhancement strategies at Changan Automobile, a high volume Chinese domestic automobile branded vehicle manufacturing company with annual material purchases of approximately $10 billion USD. Mr. Gencay is charged with increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of his team by centralizing operations, standardizing processes and metrics using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) lean principles, and enhancing strategic sourcing capabilities and supplier collaboration through implementation of supplier segmentation and world-class purchasing practices.

Prior to his most recent role, Mr. Gencay was a 23-year veteran of General Motors and held various operational leadership roles. Most recently at General Motors, Mr. Gencay turned around a P&L operation in which he oversaw day-to-day operations and performance of 47 locations in NA. From 2014 to 2017, $1.6 billion USD in revenue was generated from the recovery of supplier responsible recall, warranty, and operational issue costs. This performance represented a 318 percent improvement of revenue generation to unprecedented levels. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Gencay was Director of Purchasing and was responsible for supplier material cost performance for various exterior vehicle commodities with annual purchases totaling $4.8B. Mr. Gencay has held various roles in Supplier Quality including Director of Supplier Quality – North America and Director of Supplier Quality – GM Korea in which he was responsible for supplier quality and delivery performance for all of North America and Korea and Japan, respectively.
