Leong Mun Cheng is the Head of Group Procurement in Pontiac Land Group. Pontiac Land Group is a private-held property developer, owner and operator based in Singapore. It is a leading real estate company with over half a century of expertise and experience in luxury property development. As the Head of Group Procurement, Mun Cheng’s goal is to drive procurement change aligned to changing market challenges. Her responsibilities in this role include developing key strategies for cost reduction, risk & supply chain management, green purchasing and global management while incorporating procurement into the company’s collective innovation system. In her role at Pontiac Land, she has also led many key innovation programs in driving key changes to improve cost and operational efficiencies at all the Assets. She is also a leader in technology adoption and some of the game changing programs led by Mun Cheng are the implementation of mobile apps to improve midnight bus transports at the hotels and using Bluetooth technology to ease retrieval of luggage and room service items for the hotels. She has successfully led the automation of all purchasing processes for the Group and continues to drive innovation to increase procurement value in the organization. She also chairs the Green Task Force committee for the Group, driving and spearheading many sustainability programs with key stakeholders to drive green changes to the organization. Mun Cheng is also a member of the Hotel Sustainability Committee under SHA (Singapore Hotel Association) where she chairs the sub committee in elimination of single use plastic & sustainability in procurement. In her role, she drives and proposes ideas on sustainability initiatives in the hospitality industry in Singapore. Mun Cheng brings to her position a well-established background in procurement and innovation. Prior to joining Pontiac Land, she was the Director of Procurement for the Banyan Tree Group, where she managed all the procurement initiatives for all the properties within the group. She has also played a key role in opening all the new properties worldwide, working with different owners in building the hotels within budget and within timeline. She has successfully automated the purchasing process for the group and has contributed to many successful productivity initiatives at all the resorts within the Group. She was also a Regional Buyer for Club Med, where she has managed the successful operational buying for all properties in Asia Pacific. Besides excelling in procurement, Mun Cheng has also been on the other side of the fence, managing sales & marketing for the South East Asian region with Arc International, one of the largest tableware manufacturer in the world. During her 4 years stint there, she has won the top sales of new products for SEA.
