Edgardo ( Egay ) G. Apitana is the Chief Procurement Officer at A. Magsaysay Inc., based in Manila, Philippines, since December 2014. He oversees the Strategic Procurement Unit (SPU) for the Magsaysay Group of Companies, which spans various industries including shipping, logistics, education, real estate, and BPOs. His role involves strategic sourcing, contract management, and ensuring procurement functions align with corporate goals and compliance standards.

Egay is responsible for initiating procurement quality improvement initiatives, developing procurement policies, and managing vendor relationships. He also focuses on risk management by developing systems to mitigate organizational risks. Financially, he manages the SPU's budget, ensures cost savings, and SLAs with business units.

In terms of business intelligence, Edgardo analyzes procurement data for strategic planning and conducts supply assessments to improve the supply base. He also emphasizes leadership and staff development within the SPU, aiming to nurture potential leaders and enhance team competencies which has been strengthen during his stint with Chevron Holdings Inc. and Malaysian Marine and Heavy Engineering in Malaysia.

Egay promotes environmental sustainability by integrating green processes and engaging in environmentally beneficial projects. He maintains strong relationships with suppliers and continuously seeks new vendors to support the company's procurement needs. He is currently working on his dissertation paper under the Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Engineering at Mapua University in the Philippines.
